How to enhance your Wolf Security System with iButton Keys
What is a
Dallas iButton key?
It looks like an oversized watch battery. But in fact, the iButton is
the carrier of a
unique and unalterable code, laser-etched onto a chip inside the can.
Your personal iButton code
will be stored in your lock’s memory. (Other
codes can always be added or deleted.)
To use the iButton, you briefly touch it to a small metal plate installed on
your door. If the iButton recognizes the code, it grants you instant access.
The silicon chip within the iButton is protected by the ultimate durable
material: stainless steel. You can drop it, step on it or scratch it — It’s
wear-tested for 10-year durability.
And it fits easily on a key ring!
How does it work?
A
small electronic board is the heart of the system. It stores more than
1,000 key codes, grants or denies entry, and accepts programming commands from
the owner. After installation, you need access it only if you lose your master
key.
On a van exterior, a small, stainless-steel receiver plate is fitted onto
every door that’s in the system. When you touch a door with your iButton, it
reads your code in milliseconds. If your code is recognized, the lock opens. If
not, the control denies entry. No keyhole is needed.
Each system is supplied with one master key and as many iButton keys as
needed. The holder of the master key can program in new keys or delete keys as
required. So if a driver leaves or keys get lost, it’s easy to maintain
security.
The cost of new iButton keys is very low compared to remote key fobs. And
they’re readily available.
Options
-
Not Just for Vans. Our controller also can be used for most types of electronic
locks, such as office and warehouse door installations.
If you already use
Dallas iButtons for access control to your buildings, car park, lockers or cash
boxes, you can program the same iButtons to grant access to your vans.
-
Memory Back-Up. For the added cost of just one Memory iButton DS1996L, you
can back up all the codes stored in the memory of a vehicle’s controller.
It’s a
quick upload into the iButton DS1996L. And in the unlikely event of data loss,
you can just as easily download the codes back to the controller's memory.
(See how small it is)
-
Integration with Your Personal Computer.
Use iButton software with our USB interface
to manage all your iButton usage from a computer. This can include codes for any
number of key holders, vehicles and other iButton devices.
On your PC, you can view exactly who has access to every lock, and delete or
add keys as required. The iButton moves the file back and forth as needed
between the controller and the computer. No networking is necessary!
- Audit-Trail Feature is available with an upgraded version of the controller.
Storing a large number of codes (860), the controller records the last 256
events of granted access.
This file can be extracted from the controller and
viewed on your PC (with the adaptor and software described in
#3). This version
requires a special “timer” iButton.
